The Groundswell Center for Local Food and Farming will be conducting their 5th annual Farm Business Planning Course from January 9th through March 6th at the Just Be Cause Center. The 9-session course will teach people in the early to mid stages of developing an agriculture business about setting goals, matching production to market strategy, and assessing feasibility. The course fee is on a sliding scale, from $90 to $350
The course will be taught by a team of farmer educators, social justice activists, and farm business instructors. Participants will benefit from one-on-one guidance and support from any of the instructors to support individual goals and needs.
Participants are encouraged to have at least one year of hands-on production experience, a clear business concept, and time to commit to an intensive 9-week course, including time for outside research and homework. The course explores opportunities to lease farm land in the Tompkins County area, so land ownership or the financial resources to purchase land is not required.
Participants may register by 1) filling out a written application found here or at the Groundswell Center office located at 225 South Fulton St. in Ithaca, then 2) filling out the registration form and submitting a $50 deposit. Questions may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org or to 607-319-5095.
