Beginning on September 25, the Cornell Small Farms Program will begin and online course on woodlot management. Led by Peter Smallidge, the course will cover topics such as forest resource assessment, firewood cutting, harvesting logs for mushroom cultivation, and support for long-term forest health. The course is for all levels of woodland owners, targeting those who have an interest in working their woods to improve their financial outcome and ensure the trees have long-term productivity.
Smallidge, the instructor, is a New York State Extension Forester. He provides teaching tools and resources for woodlot management, invasive plant management, timber production, and maple sugarbrush management through Cornell Forest Connect.
