Cornell Cooperative Extension Seeks Ithaca Farmers Market Volunteers

The Cornell Cooperative Extension needs volunteers for a EBT/SNAP booth at the Ithaca Farmers Market. CCE has provided a description of the role and times volunteers are needed:

“Volunteers Needed!

Calling enthusiastic volunteers for Cornell Cooperative Extension! Donate your time representing CCE with a booth at the Ithaca Farmers Market to help with EBT/SNAP transactions. Help promote the use of SNAP and FMNP coupons at the market to customers and the convenience of using them.

Using the iPad provided by the market to complete the transactions is simple and quick and training will be provided. Market tokens and FreshConnect checks will be provided for you to distribute to the SNAP customer. Recording EBT transactions and completing customer counts (in a provided binder) will also be required during the market.

A tent, table, and chairs (provided by CCE) will need to be set up at the start of market. Additional CCE educational materials and information (gardening, local food guide, upcoming events etc) will also be provided to organize on the table for people to take. At the end of market, everything will need to be packed up and brought back to CCE.  A van will also be available for you to transport everything to and from the market.

The position requires availability for the markets on:

  1. TUESDAYS, 9 am-2 pm (or a split shift with another person) at Dewitt Park (corner of Buffalo and Cayuga St).  Market ends 10/31
  2. WEDNESDAYS from 4-7 pm near East Hill Plaza (next to Rite Aid). Market ends 10/25

There could be one or 2 people at the booth at a time.
