Waste Less Food: Feed More People!

Join the movement to avoid wasting good food – by getting it to the people who need it!

In this session, GreenStar Community Projects (GSCP) has partnered with leading food recovery efforts, featuring  Friendship Donations Network and  Tompkins County Recycling and Materials Management  decades of experience.

This networking session includes a panel of experienced speakers, and round table discussions to address existing efforts (food rescue & distribution networks, and composting food that can’t be eaten).

Monday, July 10th from 5 – 8 pm

at the Tompkins Public Library (Borg Warner Rm)

Free Meal ~ Open to All !

   Across the entire food production and consumption chain, 40% of all food in the United States goes to waste. This translates to $162 billion lost in wasted water, energy, fertilizers, cropland, and production costs.

   21% of the food each person buys goes to waste; each person discards an average of 20 pounds of food per month.

   Each year, the average family of four wastes over 1,000 pounds of food, resulting in $1,500 lost.

Meanwhile, 1 out of 7 residents of Tompkins County are at risk for hunger.

Find out what’s happening to rescue food and reduce hunger locally, and ways to participate!

Generously funded by Park Foundation. Venue sponsored by TC Public Library.
