At the 2017 Farm to Plate Conference, Karma Glos gave a tour of her organic farm, Kingbird Farm, to about 20 participants — but if you missed it, you can still check out this video from 2013. This year, Karma says she’s looking forward to her new construction projects: a new farm store, walk-in cooler and freezer, a new greenhouse, and a conservatory where she can overwinter tropical houseplants.
Kingbird Farm is located on a rocky hillside surrounded by forest near Richford, NY in Tioga County.
This clip introduces Kingbird Farm, a certified organic diversified small farm in Berkshire, NY, and is followed by other videos documenting how they raise herbs, pigs, turkeys, ducks, and chickens using Animal Welfare-Approved humane practices. This clip is from the Video Mentor series, produced by the Cornell Small Farms Program (http://nebeginningfarmers.org), filmed and edited by Peter Carroll of Ithaca, NY. This project was supported by the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (BFRDP) of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, USDA, Grant # 2009-49400-05878.
