Groundswell’s Pig-N-Pints Fundraiser Roasts and Toasts to Benefit Beginning Farmers

Groundswell Center for Local Food and Farming is hosting the second annual Pig-n-Pints Pig Roast and Fundraiser at Hopshire Brewery and Farm in Dryden on Saturday, September 10 from 3-7pm. The event is partially sponsored by Farm Credit East.

Guests can enjoy local pork from Van Noble Farm as well as sides prepared by Bici Cocina while tasting the seasonal brews from Hopshire. There will also be cider tastings, a cider pressing demonstration, a petting zoo by Heritage Haus Farm and face painting for kids by Art Happens Here. There will also be live music from 4-6 pm. This event is family friendly and free to attend.

A core event of Pig-N-Pints is the Silent Auction. This year, it includes many local items from CSA shares and restaurant Gift Certificates to B-n-B stays and acupuncture treatments. Proceeds from the silent auction and food sales will benefit Groundswell’s Beginning Farmer Training Program, and contribute to a diverse, resilient local food system in the Finger Lakes region.

Each year, Groundswell Center trains over 50 aspiring and beginning farmers to launch and expand their businesses. Through our Incubator Farm program, we provide affordable access to land, farm equipment tools, and business planning expertise to refugees, disabled and aspiring farmers from marginalized communities. Through our programs, we connect local, sustainable farmers to buyer networks across New York State, thus helping these farm businesses flourish.
